Children aged 3 to about 5 years

Bachelor qualified early childhood teachers lead and develop the programs for our Kinder Room.

The National Quality Framework and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework are embedded within our Kinder Room’s Kathy Walker learning approach, which is a play-based program combining child-initiated and adult-facilitated relationships, experiences and interactions. 

Our approach emphasises the importance of the child’s whole learning experience encompassing:

• emotional and social development

• resilience

• self-esteem

• cooperation

• independence

• critical thinking skills.

All children are unique individuals that need to be nurtured within a supportive and flexible environment, with plans and programs tailored to each child’s needs and development. 

Every child’s wellbeing is paramount, so we aim for our centre to be a place where all children can grow and learn through play, laughter, investigation, imaginative experiences, wonderful literature and nurturing relationships.

Families and communities also play a pivotal role in children’s learning and development, so relationships with both children and their families are at the heart of our kindergarten program. The kindergarten team look forward to welcoming you to our very special DEDK family.
